Mine keep throwing a code and triggering the CEL. (forgot the code now, which points to throttle position sensor) it may be loose, etc.
2-3 weeks it is fine, another 1 week it drives my rpm wild with untimely shifts or keeping in 1st gear way too long (until rpm hits 3k) etc.. then it is suddenly normal, until it remembers to bother me again and shows up again.

What is this TPS? Where exactly is it, and what can I do to try and fix it? Disconnect/re-connect?

Assuming you have a 3.7 the TPS is on the right side of the Throttle body , take your air intake hose off and you will see it, the TPS and IAC, if I recall correctly is one unit.

And what I do to check for problems? Is it something I can remove and replace?

I can try to find it tonight.
When I told the guy at Autozone what I need, he was able to look it up in the computer with no problem.

F.Y.I. - I first went to Pep Boys and they quoted me something around $120 for the part. Not sure why it was so much higher.

Not anything with Autozone, but for the price difference, I would go to nappa.

Here is a link to the one I purchased.
Autozone is just a few blocks from my house, which is why I use it. I'm sure any decent auto parts store will carry it. Just keep an eye on the price.
