I need new front brakes and rotors very very badly.
I will be doing this install myself.
Should I Replace the rear also, even though they have 60% remaining?

Thanks!

i wouldnt unless theres a problem with them. i wouldnt do only a front left, or only a front right. do both fronts, or both backs, but you should be ok. just my opinion though, thats what i would do

I replaced my rear brakes yesterday for the first time at 145000 miles and they still had 25% pad left. Ive allready done the front twice.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

My brakes were pretty worn when I bought the jeep, so I replaced them and ever since they've been squeaky and sometimes grind. Pretty annoying. I'll probably be changing to a different pad, and maybe even replace the rotors again.

I asked the dealership to swap out my drums last Nov and they refused *shrug* they are at about 10% life. The fronts do go out a lot quicker and I swap those out myself. If you do your back an they are drums, I suggest only swapping one rear drum at a time, this way you can use the other as a reference. Just MHO though.

LMAO, I say the same thing when I can coerce my father in law to help me :D although when we did the lift I did have a pair of vise grips fly past my eye...we were trying to be sneaky and resourceful...in the end we bought a new spring compressor.

<---that was pretty much the look on my face as they flew by at literally about a 1/2" from my eye ball. I nearly had to change my pants.

install went very very well and it only took us 1 hour and 15 min.
I have very little on both inner brake pads left, and my rotors were not that bad, but we did them anyways!
also, is there any reason to have my alignment checked?

Noob Question: What some signs that brakes, drum, rotors are going & should be replaced? Beside a visual inspection. Thx

Longer stopping distance, squeeking, shaking while on the brakes. Go into any reputable shop and they can do a brake check for you.

Not a bad question TBH.
Front pads you will hear a squeal.
Front rotors you will feel a nice shake to your brake pedal and possibly your steering wheel when braking.
Rear Drums, in my experience noise, lol. Other than that I have no idea for the back.

I often hear people ask how long do brakes last and sadly it is really how often and how hard you stop. I have gone through pads in 20k miles or 50k miles. It just depends. *shrug*
When in doubt I change mine. Brakes are too important and I have had faulty brakes.

I've been lookin over the recipts from the previous owner. Looks like none of the above has been replaced. I do notice this annoying squeaking coming from the front, from time to time. Also the brakes seem a little soft to me. Might have to get an inspection done. Thx
