I keep having these pangs to trade in my perfectly good KJ in on a Rubi TJ. I'll look thru the Auto Trader and find exactly what I'm looking for, 2004-06 auto, hardtop, Moabs, lt khaki and today I found 2 withing 40mi...then the wife had taken the Libby to work today, brings it home and parks it in her usual dorky way 3' from the curb so I go to move it and WHAT THE HELL it don't crank! Well, it was 90 something today in the ATL so I jumped it off with the truck and now I'm seriously thinking TJ, TJ, TJ,TJ, TJ, TJ...or maybe just a freakin' battery for my otherwise perfectly good KJ. I mean I've had the Liberty in some hairy stuff and it's never let me down on the trail, I'd be giving up my leather seats...can you tell I'm on the fence? I've maxed out the KJ with offroadness and the TJ's I'm lookin' at are stock but I'd turn 'em into rock rockets...money aint a problem right at this moment...but the Liberty's been paid for. You tell me. This
Or THIS

Excellent idea but my truck is the DD and the old lady drives an Acura, and she's made it clear that we're not having more than one Jeep in the fambly. Even though I'm shopping for automatics for her sake. I'm gonna make that sensored word so tall she'll have to tie-off to get in it. |

Not to be an a-hole or anything...BUT... With the least aggressive AT's on the market, no armor, assumed lack of locker(s)... You have not even scratched the surface of the KJ's capability. If you have not been left wanting by your KJ's abilities, then a TJ would be a complete waste of money ITBJHO, if you're after off-road ability. |

well I guess it's time for the Acura to die Ok back to topic... I guess if money isn't a problem and you think the TJ will serve you better on the trail, go for it. Or hold out and SFA the KJ.... |

I think the whole SFA thing is overrated. If you are doing extreme off-roading then sure. But for most of us as long as we keep moving down the trail that's all that matters. As far as wanting a wrangler, we've all been there. But you have to remember why you bought your versatile kj in the first place so you don't have the grass is greener mentality. |

I'd have to agree with both these replies. Then again, I never understood the reason to ask other's what would make ME happy? So naturally, buy whatever is going to make you happy. |

what's wrong with havin a SFA daily driver? how i look at it is pretty simple, if it's the vehicle i want to spend a majority of my time in, then i'm going to invest the money in that particular vehicle so that it is both reliable and able to do what i want it to there simply isn't a stock vehicle that would make me 100% happy a rubi would come pretty close but i would end up taking off 75% of the stock equiptment and replacing it with aftermarket or custom stuff so it would probably benefit me to start with a lower model and turn it into whatever i wanted |

LMAO, you are in the same boat as me. My KJ is paid off and I keep eyeing a 4 door wrangler. However, sensibility wins out each time |

I was in the Jeep dealer the other day, and started looking at what I would "need" for a (minimum) replacement (if I were going that direction): A JK Wrangler Unlimited X-C 4x4 with AT, Trash-loc, and trailer towing group is $7K more than I paid for my KJ. The Unlimited X-S 4x4 with a locker is $9K more and the Rubicon is $11K more. No thanks. I rode with some of them at Tellico in 2007 and there are places there (and JB can attest to this) that we can wheel with the KJ easily that the JKs are just too long to make the turns without having to do 5-point turns... |

It really seems like "YOU THINK" you have done all you can to the KJ and want a Wrangler. So just go buy what makes you happy. You can then walk into any 4WD shop/ go to any online dealer and order whatever you see that every other Wrangler has on it. If this makes you happy then why ask us? When you want something bad enough no one is going to talk you out of it, trust me 3 ex wives have tried to do that |
