So I bought some new Summit Racing 100w fog lights. i'd like to put them up front but i'm not sure where.

I don't feel like taking apart my bumper unless it's simple.

any suggestions?

also I put up my surco rack =D

do you have anything on the front bumper? put them there or as reverse lights or as 2 more flood lights on the rack

just my head lights. the HID's light up the night real well, but other than that, nothing up front so i'd like to be able to have them on at night.

the way your setup is going now, it almost looks like one of those hood clamp hi-lift jack brackets needs to go on your hood which wouldn't be a bad place for 2 outboard lights, only problem would be legality and the light glaring back at you

just a thought ;)

I'd say on the bumper, you should be able to drill straight too the metal bumper without taking the plastic off. Question for yah, how did you wire up your roof basket lights, did you drill though the roof?

I too was nervous of where to drill into my bumper to mount my lights so I came up with this idea.

I managed to mount a piece of aluminum square tubing on my front clip by passing the fastening bolts through the grill slots.
Its more of a temporary setup, an experiment. They really don't bounce about but I've since learned that they're too low, they don't shine far enough down the highway. But all I need to do is raise them a bit. By the way those are a pair of Hella700FF's.
If you'd like I can post more pics of the construction.

I too have a Surco roof basket and hope to soon add a couple of extra backup lights and shovel & Hi-Lift brackets.

Putting the spare on top does have it's disadvantages but at least I have better access to the trailer hitch for the summer.

Since my last trip to Ohio I've a big fan of Summit. I visited their Toledo, Ohio store and couldn't resist coming home with something.

The lights on top are actually bolted to my side rails. I have the basket set back about 5 inches off center. wiring is hidden both sides through the doors. no drilling.

Sweet! So do you have it wired into say a add-a-fuse or straight to the battery?

I don't think those lights will lok good on your libby at all..... just send them to me, I'll dispose of them for ya  :D

I would consider mounting to front bumper somehow, don't think they will look right on the basket with the other lights unless you remove those. I can remove the bumper from the wifes '05 in less than 10 mins.

First you bought FOG lights which are only short range lights which should be mounted as low as possible, put them on the rack/ cowl area and they will be worthless. 100 watt is a lot will not be able to run them all the time since thay will blind oncoming traffic.

so mount them on the bumper and use them on back roads with no traffic only.

Summit Store in Toledo
wrong town, wrong side of the state,
Summits store is outside of Akron in Tallmadge Ohio

Don't want someone driving to Toledo looking for the store only to find out they are 140 miles too far west

DOH!

You are so right, it must have been the Tallamadge store. I was so impressed at the variety of stuff they had and of course all of it was in stock.

The last time I was in Cleveland I missed the Summit offroad show that the Tallamadge store sponsored. Do they do that every year?

The comment on the foglamps regarding placement, yes the lower the better and to remain legal they should be wired to the low beam only.
I don't quite understand why they'd be 100W, maybe they really aren't foglamps but rather driving or spotlamps.

So was I, so I did this...

I welded a washer to the u-bracket and 3m taped it to the bumper. It is fairly sturdy. The lights only shake when you hit a good bump. Kinda only works on painted bumpers, though.

Make yourself a bar, and mount them like this , looks much better and stronger than drilling thru the Facia.

put them on the bumper. they would look odd on the roof rack being you already have other lights up there and since they are fogs they wouldn't help a whole lot.

How does one go about making a bar like that if one does not have a welder or a tubing bender? Someone on here made one similar to that but I can't remember who...I wanted to buy it off that person but they changed their mind at the last minute.

Anyone want to make me one?

You dont need a tube bender or a welder, all you need is your local Electrician, that was made out of 2.5 Dia, Electrical Conduit, Electricians carry a special box it looks like a tool box usually about 4' long depending on the jobs they do, the PVC conduit is placed inside this box, its heated and they can bend it at almost a 90 degree angle. It took my Electrical guy a whole 10 minutes to bend it.By the way, if you decide to try it Do Not use standard PVC pipe, will not work.
