I got an swi-x by pac(i know ive never heard of it either) for christmas to get my steering wheel controls working b/c i got a new cd player. All it does is make the control wireless. The steering wheel controls are mux(multi plex) and only uses one wire by using resisters and putting out different volts for each button through the same wire, but the wire color they give me is wrong!?! It say its grey white when its not b/c there is not even a grey white wire. I dont know what to do. |

What you are looking for should be a grey wire with a white stripe on it. Looks like it goes up and splits into two red wires with black stripes. If you are finding a red/black wire that goes up and splits to each side then it should be the same one. I think this is the diagram you are talking about from the '03 FSM: ![]() Maybe they finally got wise and made it the same color all the way to the radio. If I used my radio/cd player more I might consider installing the remote controls, but since I normally have either of my ham radios on it would just be wasted money. Good luck with the install. |

Yea, thats the picture i was looking at. I also thought that i should use the return Mux(x10) instead of the x20. Im going to get a volt meter on it today. What do i measure mux in? ohms, or volts? I know its got resisters in there. |

MUX is just an abreviation for Multiplexer - a device that takes signals from multiple sources and outputs them as needed. Since there are resistors in the system I would measure ohms, and since the instructions say to use the signal side(X20) and not the return side(X10) I would follow that. Only problem is that there ius no listing of resistance values so it isn't clear on what the readings should be. Hope this helps. |

I know, I messed it up. Thats why i was wanting to delete it. I just hit a bunch of keys. I tried to fix it. Ohh, and i figured it out, it was a red/blue wire. The x(10) one. I used a volt meter to find it. It was 5volts when i didnt hit a button then went down a certain amount with each button i pressed. Stupid fsm!! |
