Anyone else have this issue?

It looks like the black plastic knob (not the rocker button switch, but the black cylinder knob that goes up and down as the door is locked or unlocked) is rubbing against the khaki colored plastic ring that it sits in. It creates a very fine, white powder on one side of the knob. Anyone fixed it? I just keep wiping it when I wipe down the rest of the interior from time to time and would like a more permanent solution.

Thanks!

Just a guess -

The lock knob is molded in color[black] plastic (cheap plastic.) As it is triggered up and down via the actuator for locking and unlocking of the doors, the knob is rubbing on the trim ring (kakhi colored part on the door bolster) and causing a wear mark. The result of this is the fine powder that you notice is really from the lock knob.. Look at your knob for a flat line, if you see one this is the source of your problem.

My knob buzzes when the doors are unlocked. I have to lock the doors as soon as the Jeep is started so that I don't hear that awful noise.

Mine did the same thing... I used a little peanut butter on the knob and wiped it down and the oils for that fixed the problem. But only peanut butter will work. Larter...Clint

Ah yes, the peanut butter on the door lock knob trick, works every time. Just dont get it confused with the peanut butter on the door handle trick, which also works every time too.

I forgot to post this the other day...but I was going to tell everyone that it was "Peanut-Butter Lovers Day" on Monday. My teacher always reads a list of the different odd holidays everyday...and each day there is a wierd one..(play checkers day, fly a kite day, etc..). I figured most LOST members are "Peanut-Butter Lovers"! lol. :)

Hey, I might have another fix for you, Im not sure how much room there is between the knob and the hole for the knob, but maybe you could get a rubber grommet to put in there? Might be a tight fit, a little peanut butter will help to get the grommet seated properly though.

Thanks Clint! Shouldn't you be in a desert somewhere or building a house or something? :D

Don't know what's under the plastic for the door thingies. For what it's worth, in my old Fairlane you could take the plastic off, grab the metal with some vise grips and rotate it. It straightened it out for me and made it closer to centered.

Or...go to a dealership and swap with a new one
