Last night I Hit a patch of Black ice and slid into a curb  . I blew the bead and took a chunk out of the rimon the right front tire . Replaced the tire with the spare and the alignment is way out of whack I am hoping that nothing is bent and an alignment and new rim will solve my problems. Does anyone have an idea how much a 16” rim for a 2003 Liberty sport will cost?

EBAY!!! Fairly cheap. You could also look on the KJ For Sale link also and see if anyone is willing to part with one.

The jeep is a beast. Hopefully you didnt bend anything. Really the only thing that could of gotten bent was the tie rod.

The jeep is a beast yest but the Cobblestone curb has won this battle. I Got the jeep up on the lift at a alignment shop today. The subframe has shifted over about 1/4-1/2" my next stop is going to be to a body shop who can put it on a rack and see if there is any other dammage. 10mph doesn't seem that fast but it was last night.

Were your wheels turned when you hit, if so then OUCH. Man that sucks, it's a split second reaction but try to remember to try to straighten out before you hit and possibly drive over it without the wheels locked. Hope its not too bad.

Check the ball joints on that side also. There have been a few people that have smacked the curb while on ice and shortly after the ball joints gave out while they were driving.

I got an estimate from a body shop today. The techs (1 auto body and 1 Mechanic) looked at the front end and gave me a quote of $450 for labor, he told me that the hit appeared to have been evenly dispersed among the components and that the redirected the energy of the impact to the sub frame. It will take 2 days to repair on the rack, after its done on the rack the mechanics will do the full alignment, when it’s done should be good as new.

i hit a curb on my way into school in my old Honda Accord a while back, yes my wheels were turned but I hit it fast enough (10-15 mph) that I bent the unibody. The car had 275,000 miles on it and blew (literally threw two gears out of my tranny) up two weeks later. It was scary to drive. So we took it out back and shot it, beat it with an ax, baseball bat you name it. quite fun I may have the video laying around here somewhere...It's amazing what a curb will do...

Let me know if you want to upgrade to a full set of Renegade rims. I'm considering parting mine out and buying steelies.

Well, youve got to think. A 4000lb jeep sliding into a curb and one tire stopping it.

So did it bend the steering rack, or the entire front suspension? Sounds cheap thats why im asking.

It sounds like the sub frame is bent. The body shop should be able to straighten it out from that type of accident and providing you don't hit it again you should have no problems. They will just re stress it in the right direction. Oh yeah, you should buy Adams wheels

Update
Got the Libby back from the shop yesterday, the subframe is back to where it belongs and the front end was aligned and all of the suspension components were inspected and found to be in good shape. It actually feels like it is driving better than before the accident, this all done for $500. I am going to be keeping an eye on the right front side for a while now to see if any problems with ball joints ect beging to develop. but I am happy with the results as of now
