What if the shop that intalled your u joints (and broke both yokes in process) didn't grease the u joints? Do greasable joints ship already greased? Will these joints make noise (clunking) if they are dry? They seem firm when I try to move the drive shaft.

They come with a very small amount of grease in them but not enough to keep them alive for several thousand miles.
If they wear out they will clunk, but if dry and "froze" in place no they will seem tight but only because they will not move anymore

I don't think they will actually hold more than a minimal coating of grease (to prevent corrosion) until after they are installed. Then they are kind of compressed into place and should be greased right after install.

If you are not sure if the shop greased them then you should asap. But it would have to be a real bad shop that you are dealing with since you said they broke the yokes so anything is possible. I would just grease them and not go back there for any other service if it was me.

Grease them, and see if the clunking goes away. I would say go back to the shop that did them, but that would mean driving back to Florida!!
