Ok ok so I got that big Magnaflow SUV muffler installed on my Renny. I kept my stock pipes b/c i like that they are hidden, and they are allready 2.5"....well i was stopped at a stop light and decided to rev it up and see how it sounds....... and a few seconds later i noticed a horrible smell. It smells almost like something is BURNING!! Is this normal with a new muffler? Or should i look to see if the muffler is touching something????? Someone help!! ![]() |

if it's a burning rubber smell, it could be the rubber mounts on the hanger, never seen them touch a muffler but it's possible. |

A lot of times they will coat the muffler with something before it is shipped then that has to burn off. But let it run for a while and look under it to make sure that it is not too close to anything else and burning something, not sure what but could be. Mine smelled for just a few miles then it was fine. Enjoy the new sounds! |

well i went outside on my break and peaked around. Nothing was touching anything so i gave the muffler shop a call. He said that they spray all their welds with a high temp spray paint and that after the exhaust gets hot a couple of times that smell should go away. PHEWWW!! I thought i was going to explode at that stoplight!! ![]() |
