| Post subject: | Killer Seats |
I have an 05 Liberty Sport and the seats are very uncomfortable for me. They are too tall (I am fairly tall, but only from the waist up) and hit me uncomfortably in the back of the thigh. Does anyone have any ideas where to get a more comfortable seat that would be an easy install? I have had no luck finding aftermarket seats for the Liberty. I have thought of trying to find some leather seats from a Limited, but I have no idea if they would be any better since I have not sat in any. I am working in a national park in SE Utah and dealerships are no where near where I am. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Trekker |

Install a dead pedal. That does a lot to take the pressure off the back of the thighs. An example: http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=3435

Great idea! Never heard of that before today... Suspect there is one in my future. Anyone with any seat ideas? Thanks, Trekker |

05 and up seats get to my back, mine (2004) not so much, have driven mine 12/14 hours straight and no problems, BUT RIDE IN MY FRIENDS 06 FOR 50 MILES AND BACK ACHE! |

Both mine and my wifes are 02's. She has no issue with the seats, if I drive for more then 5/6 hours I feel it in my lower back. I've been looking at replacing the seats with something else for a few years now, just haven't made my final decision, and other expenses have put the purchase off a while. Unfortunately the only way to tell whether a seat type will be comfortable is to go and sit in one for 6 hours, one of these days I'll have to go and camp out at Automotive wharehouse for day and try one out. These are the ones I've been considering.

The ones in my '02 suit me just fine. Never had any problems with my back hurting or my thighs or anything. I've drivin for 3-4 hours straight and no problems. I've slept in them too. But thats different than driving. |

Mine are fine. But then again, I'm 18. I'm sure I could sit on a rock and be okay. |

I've driven my KJ over most of the country and I have no complaints about the comfort..... but I'm cool like that. |

My 07 seats are not great comfort. The Wrangler Sahara seats (02) are very, very comfy. Sure wish I could get some nice comfy seats in the Libby. Does anyone know if GC seats are a direct swap? |

03 Sport seats are fine for me...even better with the Iggee extra padded seat covers. Quite a few people have replaced seat with leather ones out of limiteds which are said to be a better seat. |

At Camp Jeep 2007 the biggest complaint at the 'meet the engineers' tent was how uncomfortable the seats were. They said they thought they had adressed that in the '08 Libby. The '08 KK demo they had in the showtent did have a more comfortable drivers seat but that may have been bacause 250,000 big-but boomers and their twenty-something children sat in it. If the '08/'09 is a more comfortable seat then it may be possible to swap it out with earlier models. Just a thought. |

Does anyone else have any experience to indicate that the Limited leather seats are more comfortable than the sport seats? Thanks |

If the problem is with the shape of the seat, and not the padding or material, then would swapping them out with the Limited's really do much of a difference? |

I hate you... Oh to be young again. We just don't recover like we used to. Yep, my 04 doesn't seem to bother me unless the trip is really long. But then, sitting too long in anything will create aches and pains. |

Murphyman: You are probably exactly right. I have never seen the Limited seats, BUT if they are identical to the Sport seats except for the leather, then there is probably no difference. Does anyone know if the Limited seats (05) are basically the same shape and design as the Sport seats? Just trying to find a way to get rid of the pain in the back of my legs that I get on the long trips I make between SE UT and central AZ. Thanks! |

I swapped my 05 sports seats with 04 Limited leather, power, heated seats. Much more comfortable and adjustable. I lower the seat for highway driving and raise it to the max height when wheeling. leave it somewhere in the middle and tilt it back for daily commuting. |

Can you add power seats to a kj if it didn't originally come with power seats? I'd want to do that so I can adjust it easier. I don't need the heated part though. Thats just a waste of money in Florida. hah |
