My engine is covered by a layer of mud. Can I hose it down or will I have to protect parts and scrub gently?

I did not bring up anything about this in a search. Please reroute me if I missed something. Thanks.

I power wash mine after every trail ride. Make sure you cover or remove the air filter/intake and let it dry good.
