You would have the 231 command trac t-case since you have a 5 speed manual trans,no select trac was offered with a manual trans(only auto trans).

Command Trac..............

-Stronger
-only can use 4wd on loose slippery surfaces(wet pavement is not slippery enough)
-mechanical linkage between shifter and shift fork

Select Trac.............

-weaker then the command trac
-can use Full Time 4wd on any surface including dry pavement
-has shifting(not coming out of 4wd) problems since no mechanical link between shifter and shift fork

Let me add this, I read it out of one of my 4x4 books.

Comparing internals only, not shifting, the Selec Trac is stronger, but has a weak shifting mechanism and less aftermarket support.

Well, you'd have to add a center diff for the Full Time option to work...

Look under the KJ (drivers side) at t-case and read the tag. It'll say 231 or 242 on it.
