I am getting a fuel smell inside. I have looked all around and can't find a leak anywhere. Is there somewhere or something else that I should be looking at? Please help. I usually have kids and a puppy in the jeep with me and I don't want any of them getting sick.
Thanks for the help.

Have you checked all of your exhaust connections and have you just noticed this once or does it happen all the time. Do you smell it while movung or at idle. Have you added drygas (or any other fuel treatment) If an injector was leaking on the outside you may not see it since gas evaporates very quickly.

My wife has been saying the same thing, I can't smell very well so it is always fine to me. I was going to look under the truck next week to poke around. If I find anything, I'll let you know. I ingored it a bit, because we would be behind a piece o crap car or a bus. But now I think it is getting worse.

If you tend to "top off" your tank the evap cannister may have gotten a bit of fuel in it.

The smell should go away after awhile. When the gas nozzle clicks off, quit filling and you should be ok from here on out. :)

I haven't checked the exhaust connections because it smells so much like raw fuel. That's why I was thinking a possible fuel leak. But, no that you mention it, I will check it out. I do smell it when just sitting at an idle and also after I shut off the jeep and get out. I can smell it through the whole inside while idling. Even in the back cargo area. I usually do top off. I will just shut it off after it clicks next time to see what happens. But, it does still smell after it gets down even to just a quarter tank left.
Any other ideas and/or advice would be GREATLY appreciated. As mentioned before, I don't want my kids getting sick from the smell. Or myself for that matter. But, I'm more worried about them.
Thanks again for all the help.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAVE A SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Is your check engine light on? If it is you should check for codes. because it is prob. your EVAP system. the EVAP lines like to crack they run from the engine compartment back to the EVAP canister under the Liberty The lines are plastic they get brittle and tend to break.. hope this helps..

I haven't gotten any codes or engine light. That's why I wasn't thinking that it may be the EVAP system but, I will check those lines.
Thanks for the idea and the help. I will let you know what I find.

I finally got time to look at the EVAP system yesterday. I found a hose next to the battery the was completely dried up and cracked open. It is part of the EVAP return line. The hose is 2 different sizes on each end. Looks like 5/16" on one end and 3/8" on the other. I streched open one end of the 5/16" line and clamped it on the tube. Hopefully my check engine light will stay off now. Hopefully yous will be an easy fix also. A friend has a 05 Libby and his setup is very different. It looks like the realize that this was a problem and redesigned it.
