My front driveshaft is shot and wobbles like crazy. Dealer wants about $500 for a new one this one is only $235. Should I pay half price for this one or blow my front bumper money on a Mopar one?

If you are even thinking about paying $500 for the Mopar one, look at Tom Woods SYE kit, you get the SYE and a better then stock CV driveshaft. Just my two cents...

The front drive shaft is a very simple swap out, if you have basic mechanical skills you can do it yourself.
List price for the part from Chrysler is $392, almost all on line dealers discount parts 15% that brings you down to about $314.
IMHO the few dollars you might save by buying something unknown off E-Bay does not warrant the risk.
Also the front drive shaft is part of the power train so you may be covered under the seven year warranty if you have it.
Whatever you do don’t pay $500.

I already removed the front driveshaft because I tore it up about a month ago offroading, and have been out of town most of the last month. Yes it was very easy to remove. My jeep has 51k miles now and is out of warranty unfortunately. I quess I will look to see if I can find a Mopar one from an online dealer if they are that close i price. darn stealerships!

good price, although if you tore yours up you ought to look at Toms Woods as they will be HD. Usually around $400~.

I blew my front driveshaft at Paragon. It was my first venture off-road & I guess I got a little too daring in the mud. At least I had a 7/70 warranty coverage, although I still had to pay the $100 deductible. Still better than paying $400.

Removed mine today, nearly dead from wheeling at Paragon and some other choice obstacles. Calling Tom Wood on Monday to see if I can mail it to him for experiments toward a slip-yoke extension with u-joints. Jeepin Al is on track with something like this, so you may want to consider what Tom decides. His work has really been solid for us, and he'll replace anything of his that breaks for free...something to think about...
