My folks taught me if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. How about a dual piston 12 volt air compressor for 166.95?
MSRP of 437.43. Has Anyone had dealings with this company?

Woops, two different compressors. Any one have one of the QA002 compressors?

4x4GroupBuy is a reputable company. I haven't any experience with the Sun Performance products, but my Viair oil-less compressor has been pretty darn useful.

thanks, Renedave. I'm looking for a electric compressor for mounting under the hood. CO2 looks great except it takes up precious room in the cabin. Anybody mount a air tank underneath?

I'm sure there's nothing "wrong" with the QuikAir, but those pistons are very small. According to the manufacturer's site it only puts out 1.19CFM.

If you want a dual piston compressor for cheap I'd say try out the Q-Industries MF-1089 ( http://www.amazon.com/Industries-MF1089 ... B000L9D8LI ).

It appears to be a twin-piston version of the wildly popular Q-Industries MF-1050 (aka Superflow MV50) and costs less than twice as much. I don't know the CFM ratings on the 1089, but it should be decent as the single-piston 1050 puts out 2.54CFM.

I already have one 1050 mounted with a tank and my plan is to make a false floor in the cargo area to house the tank, my existing 1050 and a second 1050 wired to it to give me more airflow. With those and the 2.5gal tank I should have no problem airing up tires quickly and running air tools for short bursts.

FreedomKJ, I can't find any reviews on the 1089. Q industries website lists all the compressors with the same specs. :? With so many reviews along with yours in a positive light and my main objective to air up tires after returning to pavement, I think I'll save some money and go with the MF-1050. I hope you post some pictures when you do your modifications with your compressor and tank.

Is there a difference between the MV-50 and the MF-1050, other than 20 bucks? The pictures are the same.

They are one in the same. No difference. Both are made by the same company.....

This is interesting. Some performance mods for the MV-50.

Funny you should post that. My compressor is already disassembled on my workbench so I can do the porting this weekend…

I'm looking at that link and I'm wondering what exactly the poster did. Did he just enlarge that hole in the head? What do I need? a bigger hole in my head?

He enlarged both holes. Be careful if you do this.... I did the work this weekend and didn't check positioning very well. I maed the intake port too large and now air leaks under the divider between the intake and output portions of the head. I'm going to try filling the hole in a little with some JB weld, and if that doesn't work I guess I'll be fabbing a new plate out of aluminum.

Did you use a dremel? Any thoughts on the piston lube? The article said high quality grease. Maybe a teflon based lube?

I did use a dremel with a routing bit. As for grease I just put a very fine coating of red valvoline heavy duty grease on the inside if the cylinder. It really doesn't need much, if any, as the piston is a pretty tight fit and has a teflon ring around it already.

I figure heat is what do these inexpensive compressors in. Less friction = less heat.
