Tried searching but couldn't find the posts and can't for the life of me remember what the cause is.

But I noticed some smoking from the engine bay and had some burnt oil smell/smoke coming through the vents. Pulled the oil cap and had some yellowish foam on it.

Cause? and fix? ideas?

you change oil brands or somethin?

been making alot of short trips where the engine doesn't get up to temp can cause condensation then the next time ya get it up to temp the water boils off

most people suspect coolant leak in the system when they see it but typically coolant turns into brown baby doo doo and migrates towards the oil pan rather quickly

pretty common on KJs it seems, more so if you use dino oil, but even mine gets a little bit at times with full synthetic so ???
Clean it out the best you can and drive it!

check your PVC valve as well maybe it is clogged up allowing more vapors through?

It's from engine condensate mixing with oil mist and then settling where it will, in this case, in the Jeeps semi-isolated oil filler neck area and cap, probably because it's plastic and does warm/heat up like a metal part would so is cooler. Other models/brands on different forums report the same issue in their cars/trucks.

Mostly caused by short trips.

as others have said, cold weather and short engine run cycles. let it warm up to temp before driving away will help a bit. For some reason people think that starting and just driving away will help your vehicle warm up faster but all it does it put more stress on the engine until the oils warm and thin a bit.

i have seen this in other cars I have had from time to time i the winter, not with the crd so far.

short trips in winter are not good, letting it sit to warm up completely is a waste of fuel IMHO. I Just let it idle a few minutes so the oil is flowing and the engine has smoothed out then drive gently the first mile or so. if you can avoid short trips by compining them in to one longer trip that would be better overall.

I noticed that under my fill cap was the same thing. I am a high schooler really into my KJ and I asked my dad why it did that because I was worried, and he wasnt sure. But now it makes sense.

I always am driving 2-6 miles. not usually more. So, I hope that eventually it doesnt hurt the car.

You now are driving a JEEP not a car
Just keep the oil changed on a regular basis, in the summer it will go away, just keep it cleaned out as much as possible

hmmm, never happend on short trips. My drive to work is 20-25 minutes. it seems to happen more if I hit stop lights. I try to let the engine warm up completely before driving, but sometimes only let it heat half way so I wont be late.....because I'm lazy and like to sleep in as much as possible
