I am losing 1 quart of oil every week(300 miles). this just started 2 months ago. It is not leaking anywhere. I have been underneath and nothing is wet. It doesnt smoke when i drive. Does anyone have any idea of what could be happening> It is a 2002 Liberty with 104,000 miles.

Thanks so much for you help.

I would check your spark plugs just in case.

are you parked on concrete to notice drips/spots? if not, slide a flat piece of cardboard under the engine and look for spots. checking spark plugs is excellent idea, especially back plugs.

That is an extreme loss through burning. Your plugs should be nearly covered in oil if it is going into the combustion chamber. Pull them all and look at the tip as you take them out. Make sure that the top of the engine isn't covered with oil from it being blown back out from a clogged PCV valve, etc... as well.

I am on concrete and there are no leaks at all. the engine all the way around is spotless and clean. I will check the plugs this weekend.

Check your coolant for oil.

Like stated check the plugs, you may not notice the burning of the oil due to the cats still being able to burn it up but that will not last long. Then you will need new cats also.Bet you have some bad valve guide seals.Couldn't hurt to change that PCV valve either,$5 at Napa and should be changed every 30,000miles anyway.
