Whats the square channel called that has one side open that people often use to make homemade roof rails on here? Is it just U-channel? I thought there was some specific name for it. Also, does anyone know where I can get said material? Thanks.

"channel" or "C-Channel"? Only thing I've ever heard it called. We just call it channel at work, including all square and rectangular types.

Try ALRO (metals distributor). Mine happily sells small quantities. Or maybe McMaster Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com). Alro should be considerably cheaper than online sources willing to sell 10 or 20 feet.
