easiest thing to check make sure ya got ya gas cap on there's also breather hoses between the top of the gas tank and the filler that seem to start to swell and dry rot after about 4 years and are pretty much toast after 8 those two things are very typical of the evap system whether it's specific to that code, i have no idea purge sel is on the drivers fender to the front of the battery if it's where mine is, seems to be a very typical location for them , wranglers was in same spot it's roundish, about the size of a typical table pepper shaker has a little cross ontop of it with a pin hole lookin thing, makes constant clicking when the engines running |

the solenoid is beside of the battery. trace the rubber hoses back to the gas tank. it could be a cracked hose rather than the solenoid itself. normally a cracked hose gives you a po442. by close attention to the small twin hoses connected to the firewall. I find my leaks in the hoses in the rear just above the rearend. |

you can take it off and use jumpers positive and ground, it should open when you touch the positive and close when you remove it, it'll make a click sound too you can actually see the dooda go down and come back up |

evap issues are rarely ever 'that' simple ![]() but it's somewhere to start half the time it mysteriously goes away after the next time someone fills up with gas part of that leak detection system detects the pressure inside the gas tank, if the cap isn't venting properly, it'll throw a code |

ahh ![]() yeah, it's easy enough, it basically acts like a speaker when you stick a hot wire to it and the speaker sucks in |

Ok as of now i have NO active codes. Have checked with a DTS advanced diagnostics code reader. I do have a question about active drive cycle for the KJ. Meaning if i have cleared the codes, how many miles of diving before it the ODBII system has run all its checks? As far as what i did.. Checked all hoses, Unplugged purge solenoid and checked connection wires. Unplugged fuel pump connection (i think thats what it was?) Center front side of gas tank? There was lots of dry dirt in plug housing. Cleaned with comp air. All looks to be ok. Ran code reader and no codes.. ![]() |
