My problem is the rear axel is inthe way .
How do you get the rear axel off to replace the emergency brake shoes & parts on a 2006 Jeep Liberty? :?

I would appreciate some help in this area & thank you for this site.

Howdy thegoochman - Welcome to LOST

you have to back down the emergency brake adjusters and commonly there a ridge on the edge so a tap with a rubber hammer generally helps - this was a post about a brake job
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5142

and Jeepster also had better photos of the backside slot in this adjustment writeup

You need to pull the diff cover off, remove the center diff pin, push in the axles, remove the C-clips,and then pull the axles out.Trans or t-case must be in "N" so you can spin the rear driveshaft.

Don't spin the axles with the center pin out otherwise you'll be playing "fish the spider gears back in".

sounds like you would be better off to pay someone to replace these.
we never pull axles to replace liberty e-brake shoes.
make sure your acutator levers are not frozen[rusted].

the correct brake tools and a lift makes a world of differnce.
