It happened again! Bearing went out while on the trail. It was the smooth one this time. Now I have replaced the smooth one twice and the other one once. I was out with some members of my locale Jeep club. Lucky I wasn't alone! I was a long way from any town. But we got the part and replaced it in a Wal-Mart parking lot after they towed me.

This time Bub wasn't there to help me either!

I paid $24.00 for the pulley. The computer at Autozone had the wrong part listed. The first one they gave me was almost twice as large as the broken one. He went back and looked for himself and hit it right away. It was a Dayco and part #89017.

I don't remember exactly when I replaced it. But it was within a year.

The back of the box says: "Be Sure The Engine Is Shut Off" :ROTFL:

I ordered the entire tensioner assembly from Amazon on Friday and it's going to be delivered tommorow. The price has gone up, I only paid $45. Terry thanks for passing along the info off of the box. I was going to leave my engine running to make it more challenging. :juggle:

What are you guys doing to kill your pulleys?

At 99k miles and at least two dozen times submerging the engine just short of the air intake I've yet to have a pulley go bad.

You should really replace the whole tensioner anyways.
It could be going bad which may put more tension on the belt and cause the bearings to go out in the pulleys.
Just something to think about.
I replaced mine at about 85.000 I think it was

Maybe that is why I have replaced both pulleys with the 1 being replaced twice. The next time it happens, if it happens somewhere other than an interstate or on trails, maybe I'll replace the whole thing!

Terry, just buy the whole thing and keep it in the back for safe keeping. Just incase it does go out on the trail again. lol
