Hey Guys, Ive been searching around and cant find much on brands of spark plugs that may work better. My wife has an 06 Libby and I recently changed the plugs before we went on a road trip to tahoe. I took out the NGK plugs and replaced them with a standard autolite and then went on our trip.

To my surprise Im getting worse mileage with new plugs. We are now getting about 15 mph and with the NGK we were at 19-20mpg. Has anybody else had this problem? I gapped the plugs at .04, added a little bit of anitsieze on the threads. So Im gonna pull out the autolites and want to know if some of you guys have a favorite plug you like to use and why?

Thanks

Most everyone is running Autolite Platinums with good luck , check to make sure you got them gapped right every year is a little different it seems!

Are the Autolite Double Platinum worth the extra money or is there really not much of a difference other than the price?

i've ran autolite and ngks, and several types of each through various testing periods, my mpg did go down slightly throughout the 7500 that i ran autolite plats, but it wasn't a drastic thing and could have simply been the weather so i didn't pay that much attention to it

i'm actually back running the ngk iridium IX series plug now, and am finally happy with the results and don't plan to switch from that exact plug and heat range ever again

Which.. i'm glad.. because I probably spent more than 250 bucks testing plugs

but each vehicle is going to be slightly different as to which particular plugs it runs best with

i will have to say, at least with mine, that i've gotten better mileage/performance out of the NGK plugs, however the idle did seem a slight bit smoother with the autolites but of course the plugs weren't the only factors involved overall either but i did end up settling with using ngks here and on out

the autolite plats were acceptable, the autolite extremes i did not like

2nd go round of ngk ix plugs are working exactly like i wanted though

Real engines don't need spark plugs.

if they have the ix in the right heat range for the 07s id go with them

then again i dont even remember the price difference between the regular ngk irids and the ix irids so if you don't plan on going beyond stock engine options you may not even be able to tell a difference in them

with every other vehicle i've always used autolites, so it's not a autolite vs ngk kind of guy decision, the autolites simply did not perform very well in 'My' vehicle

Just changed my factory plugs after 53k miles. Gas mpg went from 16 to 19.1! Should have done this 20k miles back

Needed new plugs so went to Advance Auto Parts in Broomfield Colorado.
They are having a sale right now on the Bosch Platinum Ir Fusion plugs at two for one.
This makes them only $3.99 each. A good price from what I've seen.

I'll let you know about performance and fuel mileage in a couple of weeks,
once I've had a chance to put some miles on.

BTW, how is everyone getting to the back plug on the passenger side?
I pulled the coolant overflow tank off the firewall to get some space.
Any other ideas?

Mike
