2004 KJ with 102K miles is farting! The lady that owns it called into CAR TALK about it. She said it has a case of flatulence. Needless to say Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, had a good time with this. After many questions to the owner they came to the conclusion that it was the ABS system bleeding off excess air pressure. So if your KJ gets a bad case of gas you now know it hadn't been sneaking off in the middle of the night to Taco Bell! A good thing is if YOU are driving and have to relieve your own pressure you can tell your partner it was the Libby! :pepper:

You know, I've actually been meaning to ask about this. Occasionally, especially when it's colder out, my Libby will make a fart sound...like a table being scooted across a floor. I always assumed it was something just letting off..no CEL always runs fine, so I don't care. Had a few friends...and girls give me the weird look when I'm at a stop sign and it farts. Also a decent way to cover up a fart when I actually do get the rear end loose.

Ive also been meaning to ask that. Mines started doing it this winter, Ive never heard it before but its done it a good 4-5 times in the past couple of weeks.

Sounds exactly like KJ 119 says.. pooooOooOoot.

Has nothing to do with the ABS.. Dont even have ABS. It does it when Im driving along or when stopped at a light. Thought it may be the purge valve..

You may be hearing the power steering groaning if its doing it when its really cold. Mines done that before too when I first start it but its not done it this winter.

Mine has also been doing it for the last few months. It can't be abs because I don't have abs on my kj. I always forget to post up and ask but very curious what it is.

It has absolutely nothing to do with ABS.

Think about it for a moment, while pressing down on the brake you are exerting force with your body possibly resulting in a "fart" noise from somewhere other than the Jeep

I suggest Beano

I'm having the same issue. It's been unseasonably cold and snowy here his winter. If I let the Jeep warm up for 10-15 minutes it doesn't happen. But, if I start driving before the temp gauge goes straight up, once it hits straight up the Jeep starts "farting", usually when the gas pedal is just slightly pressed. After 10 minutes of driving with the temp gauge straight up, it stops. Also, it doesn't exhibit the problem if the outside temp is 35F or higher.

could just be a vac hose on the master cyl that's hard due to the cold temps that's not getting a good seal

Not sure if it has anything to do with the Jeep being warm or not. Mine did it after I shut the Jeep off the other night. Was going out to dinner on Valentines day.
