I almost got into an accident with a sleeping driver today

We were driving northbound on the I-5 towards L.A. and the driver kept veering into my lane. It was stop-and-go traffic, but still ... then we noticed the erratic driving behaviour (jerky start and stop). When we got alongside the SUV (Lexus RX-300 series), I noticed the driver's eyelids were nearly closed.

Called 911 on the cell phone, gave them the info ... hung up. Didn't think much more of it. Traffic cleared up, and twenty minutes later I saw the same vehicle up ahead in a collision with another SUV. Didn't look serious, but sure enough the Lexus' hood was all crumpled. Both drivers looked OK though.

Why don't they just PULL OVER?

i saw an news story on tv that tired drivers are just as dangerous as drunk drivers--frightening huh? i think a lot of times people are too stubborn to realize they're tired and that they're wimpy if they stop off for a quick nap or coffee or something. they did say on the news story that if you're tired turn your AC or fan on so you're cool in the car. if you car gets to warm you get too comfortable and pretty soon it's naptime!
