Hello got a question i hope someone could answer, went to buy a Mopar roof rack basket today ,got talking to the man selling it and he said he would give me a Mopar lightbar for free, picking it up tommorow as i was in my Karmann ghia and theres no room for a roof basket in there, my questions are as follows , My Kj is a 2004 with black roof rails His kj is a 2006 with silver alloy roof rails The lightbar is a stainless steel bar and the brackets on the end have three holes in them that line up with three holes on the roof rail end caps, Mine doesnt have the holes!!!! Have the holes been drilled in his to fit the bar or are they factory holes??, Will i be able to make it fit mine? And what kind of switch will i need or does it wire into loom and come on with main beam headlights or similar. Thanks. Just added a piccy of his car with lightbar ,small square lights on a round stainless steel bar with end brackets that attatch too the cars roof rail brackets at the end , note the later silver style roof bar.

End caps are basically the same so that should not be a problem, he drilled the holes for the mounting I would say. I would think you would want to wire to a separate switch and not through the highbeams. Would not want those on everytime you had the high beams on. , wiring could be ran down along the weather stripping by the front doors into the engine compartment |

Thanks Tommudd ,do jeep do switches for accessories that blend in with the dash? and as its a mopar unit do you think it will be plug and play or will it require wiring in?. |

Picked up the roof cage carrier and as promised he said he would give me a light bar, it has 4 PIAA lamps fitted to it and was apparently wired to main beam and also could be controlled from a switch and either operate 2 or 4 lamps at a time. I am just going to wire it to a switch but havent got a clue with electrics, i want to run the loom down the front door seal and then put a connector in the engine bay near the bulkhead so i can remove it if i want too but leave the switch in place for re connecting. Dont know were is best to take a feed from or if i need in line fuses or relays, as i said im hopeless at electrics. ![]() ![]()

Sweet deal you got.. You will definitely need a relay, depending on where you get your power from. Check out the Electronics section of the forum, that should be of great help. Or anywhere else on the web for that matter. Here is a post how I set mine up, viewtopic.php?p=478384#p478384 Great because I can have them on whenever I want, have them come on with my brights, or completely off. (I did this with my after market fogs and cowl lights.) Good luck. |
