what type and brand racks do you all prefer to use on the liberty? I am looking at hitch mount types but also worder of the spare tire type is better. I am looking for something that holds 3-4 bikes so that if others go with me I can carry their bikes too and am looking for something close to $100 |

Advantage of the spare mount would be you could open the door with them on. |

Hoosier what rack is that and I notice an extension on there. was that an extra item you needed to buy? True with a spare tire one I can open the door but with the bikes on it, I doubt. with a hitch one most fold down. |

I can still open the glass. The bike rack is a Bell, bought it at Wally World about 5 years ago. It was $90 or $100. The 12" hitch extension was $10 at Harbor Freight. EDIT: It also folds down |

They make hitch carriers that fold down. Carrying four bikes? I would go with the hitch carrier. There's also one that swings out. |

I have a 2" to 1 1/4" extension. My carrier was original bought when I had a Camry and the hitch I had put on it at the time was a 1 1/4". So.....with a 2" hitch for real purposeful use, I had to get an extension for the carrier. I get the same issue with my spare and normal length hitch connection and a camper. A 2" to 2" extension should be good. They are not cheap though. |

I found harbor freight sells the 2" to 2" 12 inch extension for $15.99 when I was there today but none on the shelf. They did have a dual extension that stacked two 2" recievers, this would let you use a bike rack and pull a camper or something. That was $30 and they had one but I didn't think I needed that because I don't have a camper now. |
