My wife's Liberty has developed a new issue with the speedometer. We'll be driving along and the speedo will drop to 0, stay there a while, jump up to 20, sometimes to 40, back to 0 etc etc. My wife first noticed when she was on the highway and turned on the cruise control, acceleration varied wildly, and that's when she noticed the speedo was all over the place.

Anyone else have a similiar issue? , just figures it's my wife's jeep again that has a problem (I swear it should have been painted yellow). I beat the hell out of mine and it very rarely needs repair, she babies hers to work and the mall but there is almost always something wrong with it.

Check the wires for the vehicle speed sensor in the rear diff. We needed to repair them twice thanks to them rubbing on the parking brake cable. :banghead:

Second time we strapped the wires away from the cable.

X2. If that doesn't fix it change out the actual harness and sensor. Beyond that you may want to check speed sensor ring in the rear dif. (at which point i went to my mechanic  ).

Good luck
