I had my engine light come on and the code said "misfire Cylinder # 4". Does anyone know which cylinder is # 4?

I dont know if I have a bad plug, maybe a bad gap on a plug, or bad coil pack. I just need to know which one to check, lol.

Repace the plug first. It is only 2 buck for a new OEM plug. If that solves the problem then it was the plug. If not try swapping one of the coil pack to a different cylinder and see if it cause that cylinder to misfire. If so then it is probably the coil pack.

I am guessing you are out of warranty so you might as well change them all. If one is bad the rest are probably going bad soon also. Don't have a shop manual to tell you where #4.

Dont have a shop manual either but on all other engines I have worked on #1 is the cylinder nearest to the rad. support (front)on the drivers side. #2 is front cylinder on passenger side and #3 is in th middle cylinder on driver side and #4 should be the middle cylinder on the passenger side. #5 is nearest to firewall on driver side and #6 is nearest to firewall on Passenger side. If you have the in 4 cylinder then it will the one on the back nearest to firewall. I have worked on Ford, Dodge, chevy, Datson, mazda, toyota, plymoth, and this has been true on all those I dont see jeep changing things. but then again stranger things have happened. Now if you need the fireing order then i highly suggest buying a manual.

The cylinders are numbered from front to
rear with the left bank being numbered 1,3,and 5
and the right bank being numbered 2,4, and 6. The
firing order is 1–6–5–4–3–2.

Thanks for all the replies. I did find out that the cylinder locations were just like LimitedLurker had told me. I changed the sp plug and it seems to be doing fine. I used a Denso plug. Anybody running these? I think they're a Japanese plug, not sure. I asked for the NGK at Auto Zone, but they didn't have them, they recommended the Denso. Never heard of it before.

I did because I just replaced all the plugs 6 days ago. I only had a problem with cylinder #4. Changed the plug and have not had a problem since.
