I'm looking to install OEM fog lights on my 05 Liberty Spt and am debating on installing the Limited style (built into the grill) or the Renegade style (bolted on top of bumper). Can anyone tell me if the bumper structural steel that is beneath the bumper plastic skin already has the mounting holes drilled? If so, I'm thinking I would only have to locate the holes, then cut the rectangle in the bumper skin to mount the Rene syle lights. I'm also assuming that either OEM light kit contains pretty much the same elecrical wiring kit (harness, dash panel, switch). |

I have an '05 sport and i bought the RME fogs because i wanted the bumper mounted lights and figured an OEM kit would be easier to install. The kit comes with the a steering directional light switch, bracket, lights, relay...and no harness. So I called the dealership, to confirm and they contacted mopar and said that the kit was for KJs that were pre-wired for fogs. Ok no big deal, a harness is just a fancy word for a bunch of wires, i can make one; the bigger problem was not having the splice points that would be in the directions if a harness was included. Decided to go thru with the install and the mouting was another challenge. We had to do some hacking and slashing to mount the lights. The bracket really isnt meant for the sport, so we had to cut it and and two peices of plastic (in addition to cutting the bumper cover) off the jeep to make it work. We also welded the bracket for stability, but that might have been overkill. I'll take a picture or two of the mounting if there's interest, it would probably be easier to see what we did than try to explain in detail. As we speak, the KJ is at NTB getting new rims and the tpms sensors mounted, i was planning to post pics of that anyway, the final results of the fog install can be seen in those. |

Last thing I heard, the TPMS sensors are not to be moved to another set of wheels. Let me know how that works out for ya. |

lights can be installed anywhere your imagination can come up with. my 05 RME renny had factory wiring behind the front grill for the bumper mounted fog lights that were OMITTED in the RME package. an additional relay and a new blinker arm with the pull out switch was required to make the factory wiring functional. simple "bullet type" connectors or, cutting and splicing onto the wiring pigtails is all you need to extend the wires to anywhere you want. |

Sensors worked out fine....Originally I had the steel rims/no tpms which were replaced by rubicon rims. Added an evic a few months back from an '04. Recently bought 3 used sensors from ebay and the other 2 i got from the dealership. Used a speaker to train them, didn't bother to spend the extra 15 for the training magnet. The readings seem a bit high but i haven't compared them against a pressure gauge yet. jelohead, I have already put in the pull out switch and relay, and the fog idiot light on the dash lights up when i pull the switch. However, it doesnt look like i have any wiring behind the grille for fogs. My plan was to get my hands on 05/06 sport kj fog light instructions and a hella wiring diagram to figure out splice points/make a harness. |
