Post subject:  Bedlining Rockers? Flares? Bumpers?

So I have a question for you all:

With the little clipping our passenger side received over the weekend I'm contemplating bedlining to part of the Libby. The right side needs to be painted anyway so I figure bedlining from the bump out above the molding on the sides for sure and my wife was sideswipped a few years ago and that body/ paint work is starting to crack/ shrink thus the left side would also be worthwhile to do the "rockers" portion of the doors.

Now here are my questions and what I'd like opinions on:

Would it look okay on this JEEP:

to do just the rockers or should I also:

Do the Flares?

Both Bumpers?

Thoughts?

I'd do them all. All of those parts tend to rub up against things when you are offroad so it would be nice to have them protected so you can just smile when you scrape up against something.

I agree. When I'm through spending money on suspension, armor and winches I'm going to get my bro'-'n-law, who manages a paint & body shop, to do what 03CDKJ did to his, also in black. Awesome looking and functional.

Ha, I didn't realize someone had already done it on a black on black! It does look okay.. :D

Do you mind me asking, did you have it sprayed on, do it yourself, or roll on? And how much did it cost you to do it that way?

Line-X with Line-X Xtra..... It's not cheap because it's AWESOME.... with a lifetime warranty... Everything else is Crap.... :2cents:

I removed all the flares bumpers ect.. so they could coat it more evenly... They do all the prep work
I have over $1000 in Line-X :5SHOTS:

Your Jeep has been making me want to do it too. Its one of the best looking Libertys I've seen. 8) Im just too lazy to actually do it....maybe I'll wait till I get more scratches

Thanks 03CDKJ..

That is about the rough estimate I got from the Line-x place by me here as well, but they wanted some prep done for them (by some, I mean, they basically wanted what my body shop was going to have to do anyway). I also got a quote from my body shop to do the prep necessary and using a different material like Fulltimer did and I was mildly dissapointed, Line-x gave me an estimate to do it for roughly $1000, but then I got another estimate from the body shop for another $1000 to do prep only not including the spraying of the other material (smart bedliner it is called). Since we need it as our daily driver, I can't really do the prep myself (no time). Thus unfortunately I don't think I'll be doing it, but it looks sic :) on yours! I am definitely going to be keeping it in mind for a time when I can do it. However, I think I might have convinced the better half to finally move forward with the lift, you know, cuz we "need" new suspension and it might have minimized the damage from this:), you know, being taller and all she would have gone right under the door! Ha

Is there anyone else out there that has done this? I know Digger did his whole JEEP, Fulltimer did his, and I forget his name, but another member did the color match to the same area as 03CDKJ, only in silver. Anyone else out there have pics of custom bedlining/ paint to their libby? Just would be kind of cool to see them all! Post em up!

Thanks!

Mine is bedlined(the black) and cost me $400 and did myself, cost me a bit more since I did not spray everything all at the same time(F/R bumpers and such sprayed 4 years after the body),spray on and not that cheap junk like hurculiner.

Just need there special gun($20) and a very good compressor(14cfm min rating) and a place to keep it of direct sunlight for 6 hours since the stuff has UV protection. Not as thick as LineX but for a non-truck bed app it works very well and much better then that cheap junk.

Yep Troy sprayed mine last week Sides and roof and rack in less than an hour. It took me about a day and a half to do the prep. You do not sand it to primer, you just need it really scuffed up so the liner will stick to it. If you have bare metal you will need to prime it and scuff the primer. Will not stick to bare metal. Looks awesome, one day I will remember camera to take pictures
Also since you already have painted covers (limited) you will not have to prime the flares and bumpers, just scuff same as the sides. Maybe do the roof too like Troy and I so you no longer have to wax the roof :D

Thanks tjkj2002 and KJ 119. I do really WANT to do it. It might have to come later.

and Troy, Your Libby is by far one of my favorite rigs! Awesome combination of stuff...

If I had the space to do mine myself I would, I also don't have enough of the equipment, thus it will either have to wait til our next house, or I find someone who can do it for me cheaper.

Keep the Pics coming folks! Who else has bedlined their Libby? :JEEPIN: :D
