Does anyone have this installed? Does it give much hp gains? I saw a video demo and they said it may make a sort of whistling sound; is it true?

there is a restriction in the stock throttlebody which makes a spacer ineffective, the tuning of our composite intake makes all the tornado/flow pattern contraptions a waste of money as well

http://www.thefastman.com/Throttlebodies37.asp

actually does work as it removes the restriction in the bore of the throttlebody

Stock on Left, Fastman on Right

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!! Ok, now that I have your attention... I owned one for about 30,000 miles and it does absolutely nothing for a fuel injected engine. It does make a whistling noise because the diameter of the spacer is less than the throttle body. That's not conducive to horsepower gains. Don't buy the hype!

Hows the Fastman TB affect MPG? Any noticeable gain in power?

have you happened to run the fastman without the spacer to see if you're able to tell a difference?

if i managed to get a hold of a spacer cheep enough if there was a minimal increase or anything i guess i'd be willing to add one as long as it didn't create a restriction

The whole idea behind mating an Airraid TBS to the Fastman Throttle body makes me cringe :banghead: . The Fastman is designed to open up the throttle body and create smooth unimpeded air flow. By placing the Airraid TBS on top of it, you're completely negating the effects by reducing the intake diameter AND creating friction and turbulence. I don't see how you could possibly be gaining anything :?: Must be the placebo effect... As I said in a previous post, I ran an Airraid TBS for about 30,000 miles and gained 0 mpg increase and a slight increase in acceleration due to the higher pressures coming into the throttle body, but only above 3,500 RPM's. I also got a whistling noise and after about every 6,000 miles, a really annoying squeak in my throttle when I pressed the gas pedal. I had to clean the throttle body when this happened. I removed the TBS and the squeak never returned.

the combo provided more air the arraid originally doesnt work with the stock because the airraid id bigger but the TB is restricted.... it works with the combo and i have ran them separately i see more of an increase on my scanguage with the arraid on

What is the DBW throttle body & mod?

That's odd, because I had a K&N FIPK the whole time I had the Airraid TBS. Essentially it's the exact same setup, but I received no benefit from the TBS

and what mods have you done to your exhuast... i put a flowmaster super 44 on and i took off my resonator... much less restriction then stock... you can have all the air in in the world... you can have the best intake throttle body etc... if there is no where for the exhuast/air to go... its not gunna be sufficient

Are you referring to the air filter resonator at the throttle body?

nope on the KK there was a muffler basically directly under the truck, and then closer to the rear bumper there is a resonator ( a mini muffler basically)... thats how the KK's come stock... there is a thread on here somewhere of a CRD and you can see its rear end and it was talked about when the KK first came out

Ahh . . . makes more sense. i've seen the exhuast resonator on other vehicles but since my '04 doesn't have one i wasn't sure.

Post subject:  Re: Airaid Throttle Body Spacer

the resonator hes talkin about is very similar to the 3rd larger cat on the 2 mini 1 large cat exhausts, where the larger blind cat is more of a resonator than it is a cat, difference is on the kj 3 cat system the resonator is ahead of the gong sized muffler

pretty sure the KK resonator wasn't classified as a cat though which allows you to remove it legally (i think... lol.. you know how regulations are..)

correct jeepinjarhead... thats basically what its like... but yeah the exhaust allows for more air flow which really allows you to see the results. When one does a CAI you need to do the opposite end which would be an exhaust. without that combo it serves no purpose... an exhaust could be done without an intake and you will see some increase but again not as much as with the combo.
