Ok, well I got under the Jeep a little while ago just to check for any rubbing and lo and behold, i'm rubbing on the front swaybar with 245/75/R16's....surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be any rubbing issues in any other places...what are my options (besides taking off the swaybar) in terms or solving this problem?

Thanks,
-Savage-

How do you feel about steel wheels with different backspacing?...

If you haven't noticed yet, rubbing on the swaybar is concidered normal around here with larger tires. Get used to it, or go back to stock size tires!

Different backspacing is pretty much your only option (or spacers) if it is an issue to you. It doesn't sound like it is much of a problem if you have to crawl under to find it though. :D

I have had the same rubbing, I have gotten use to not keeping it turned all the way .just let off a little it will still turn as tight. I even tried 235 / 85 / 16 and it did the same.Good luck with your new tires.
just my experience.

Well i'd love to do steel wheels, but i haven't decided which ones yet. Plus, cash is pretty short at the moment so i'll probably have to hold off on the wheels for a little while. I know that rubbing is a common issue, i just couldn't find anything on any quick fixes. Not to mention, trying to keep tabs on all the threads about backspacing gets really confusing really quickly. Can anyone do a quick summary of what i should know? I also assume that when i bump the wheels out (either with spacers or new wheels with less backspacing) i'm going to get more rubbing on the fog light door and the pinch weld, but i have no problem cutting and pounding at the pinch weld and heating and re-shaping the fog light door.

Thanks for the help,
-Savage-

The FAQ section on the Frankenlift website says "And then on most lifted KJ's the tires will rub the front sway bar at full steering lock. Fact of life! No fix for this yet by anyone. The only exception would be different offset rims, but that can lead to other issues. Rubicon wheels work well to solve this in most cases."

Rubicon wheels, that's a thought though when I get the Frankenlift. 8)
