Hey folks -

The wife and I are considering passing the 2008 KK onto her, and getting myself a 4 door JK.

I'm debating Rubicon or Sahara, the Sahara will be enough 90% of the time, but I'm sure I'll still have that twinge of envy every time I see a Rubi roll by. Because of this, I'll probably go Rubi.

Thoughts?

Anybody have a JK too? How do you like it?

If you want the Rubi and settle for something less, you will always wish you would have gotten the Rubi. Get what you want up front so that you wont have to live with the regret for the rest of the time you own the vehicle.

I vote for buying the Rubi too however they can sometimes be hard to find, shop around. Also only if you have a family would I buy the four door JK. I must be old fashioned because I think a Jeep with four doors looks odd.

If you're buying one slightly used be positive you're getting a Rubi. I've heard more than one story of somebody buying what they thought was a used Rubi only to discover later it was only a Rubicon decal or that some of the Rubicon hardware was missing (the axles swapped out).

Yeah - I'm most likely going to go Rubicon - it's going to spend more time on the pavement than in the muck, but.... it's still a sweet looking ride.

Jeep with 4 doors looks funny?

Says he (or she just to be inclusive here) who owns a Liberty :SOMBRERO:

While I don't have a family yet - I do have a wife, and will eventually have a kidlet or two to stuff in the back and spray mud at

I thought the four doors looked funny when they first came out but they have grown on me

Theyve grown on me too. I still dont like it nearly as much as the two door.

A friend of mine just bought a JK unlimited rubicon about 3 weeks ago and its great. Lots of skid plates, electronic sway bar disco, front and rear lockers, the 241 tcase and the heavier axles. Im still envious. I would definitely go for the rubi. No doubt.

Good luck with it.

rubicon has so much more...but remember, more stuff to go wrong. you should seriously think about if you want a sahara or rubi...you can always get mud terrains on the sahara...but as you said, you will always wish you got the rubi...just my :2cents: on why i think a daily driver should just be simple, unless this is going to hit a trail at least 2-3 times a year, then you might want a rubi. otherwise, keep it simple is how i would go
