I don't ski or snowboard, but I surf, and I use Thule roof racks. They are very well made and secure, I carry big heavy traditional longboards on mine and they haven't failed me yet.....
Thule also makes attachments just for snow skies and snowboards....

I use just normal ski racks, the clamp style and regular roof bars. i have to face my skis off the back because of my lightbar.

what school are you going to ? I go the University Of Vermont.

Yakima Powderhound for 2 boards or the Big Powder hound for 4 boards. But if you don't want them exposed to the elements, get a rooftop box. Might kill your gas mileage a little bit though. Ive got the powderhound for over 6 years and still work fine. You can buy a same lock key system to secure the boards too.

I went with the Mopar brand cross rails and Mopar Ski Rack. They hold up pretty well with four boards and 80mph, lol. I chose that set up because I found an amazing deal on eBay. Three years, still going strong.

Thule Snowcat 5401. It is the cheapest option, and does not require you to buy horizontal bars. If you are just needing a ski/snowboard rack and not going to need to put a kayak/boat or bikes up top I would reccomend the Snowcat. I have it, and love it. It fits 4 pairs of skis, or 4 snowboards or 2 of each.
