Is this possible? I could have sworn that the OBD-II spec has two bits for TPM-related feature: one being the general tire-pressure monitoring bit and the other for whether or not you have sensor on the fifth wheel. I took the car in to the dealer for other work and twice asked to have the TPM feature disabled. The tech wrote a note saying the feature cannot be disabled. Seems odd to me. If there's a bit, surely it can be cleared. What gives? |

Just a side note...Be very careful when off roading and airing down...It can beark the sensor mounted inside the tire on the wheel. I think Wally went through 5 of them before he decided not to use them any more. Dont know about turning it off. Wally might be able to answerthat.. I know he is not running them any more. later...Clint |

Seems odd to me. If there's a bit, surely it can be cleared. What gives? There are two different TPM systems for '05 KJs. One has sensors in the tires and is affected by the settings you mentioned. The other uses differences in wheel speed from the ABS sensors to determine loss of pressure in a tire and is what lights up the "Low Pressure" lamp you're talking about. That system is mandated by law and cannot be disabled. |

I don't have ABS system, so it would seem speed differentials would not be measured (lack of equipment). DC still tells me "it's a safety feature and can't be disabled". Well, that's stupid. I mean, the sensors are NOT EVEN ON! How much safer is it to have the stupid lamp lighting up in this case... |
