Does anyone know exactly how much fluid it takes to fill the differentials on a KJ? I forget how much I ended up using on my wife's when I changed it last year. It's $15/quart so I only want to buy the exact amount I need. If anyone knows how much it takes I would appreciate it. thanks.

I have a 2002 gas Liberty, but I don't think there is a difference in fluid capacities for the differentials. The front Dana 30A takes 1.24 L and the rear Chrysler 8.25" takes 2.08L. In quarts that's 1.310 qts for the front, and 2.197 qts for the rear. I got this information out of the Daimler Chrysler 2002 Liberty Service Manual. Hope this is useful.

Rick

EDIT: If your Liberty has a Dana 35 rear axle, it takes 1.88 qts of fluid according to the service manual. The strange thing is my owner's manual says 1.25 qts for the front, and 1.75 qts for the rear...maybe someone else should chime in on this, since I have conflicting data from two different DC sources...

Wow...I thought it was odd how little it takes to fill these things up when I did my wife's last year. Looks like 3-4 quarts will do front and back..WOW.

Thanks for the info!
