I'm contemplating taking off my rock rails due to rust spots. Not sure if it would look better without them. I was also thinking of taking off the skid plates. My question is by removing all these parts, would a significant weight be taken off the vehicle and would it make any difference in gas mileage? I don't do any off roading so it wouldn't hurt me doing this.

For what the stock skid plates weigh its not going to make that much difference really. Plus the next time you see something in your lane and you have to run over it , you'll be glad the skids are on there

Actually the skids kinda help smooth out the undercarriage for better aerodynamics.

If we're talking the Mopar rails, they don't weigh much I don't think. Leave 'em. :JEEPIN:

They do not weigh much and they are cheap insurance. From personal experience, they are worth every dollar I paid for them. Sometimes you cannot lane change your way out of trouble.
