I don't think an offical Tech. write up has been done but the process is really simple and fairly untechnical. Cut off the plastic surrounding the pinch weld at the back side of the front wheel well. Hammer down, (some cut...I wouldn't recommend cutting) the protrusion. Spray undercoating spray (easily found at automotive stores in spray paint style can) onto the hammered down surface. Let dry. Go wheeling......if anyone feels I have missed a step let me know ![]() |

I believe any kind of hammer does it....just depends how many times you want to hit it ![]() As I said before...some people cut it off with a dremmel type tool or grinder...but personally I'm not comfortable with that...as the body is welded there for a reason, and I would be forever kicking myself in the rear if anything fell off the KJ. There are alot of posts on here about guys doing it....try going to search and type in pinch welds....hopefully some posts will come up about it. Hope this helps. ![]() |

Don't cut off the plastic piece, just cut it up two sides, trim it, heat it to make it flat, and then plastic weld it back into place. Works great and it keeps the pinch weld covered. |

for cutting the plastic. I imagine it'd be a pain in the *ss to cut that with a utility knife. |

ball peen hammer works best...use the flat end. dremel works best for removing the plastic (i tried a utility knife and cut myself badly) |

Next time I switch my tires, I'll take a picture of it (if it isn't too dirty) and post it on here. |

Before you pound the pinch weld, clamp it with a pair of vise clamps and bend it to get it most of the way. Then finish the job with a good hammer. Mine was hard to bend just by hitting it, then we tried the vise grips, and it worked like a charm. |
