1. They give great reviews for the Toyota FJ Cruiser. I wonder if they ever did the same for the KJ when it first came out (if they had this rag back then). It is an IFS also. I give it a huge thumbs up for the rear cargo space. It is fantastic.

2. The Nissan Armada has a 6" lift already by Pro Comp!!!

It has Independent REAR suspension, too! Obviously Pro Comp doesn't care for the KJ if they can make a 6" lift for a SUV that has Rear Independent Suspension. Here's a paragraph from a review I found:

The Armada has one obvious weakness: its ride. Despite having an independent rear suspension -- a configuration that, when properly designed, can make big SUVs feel almost like regular-size cars -- the ride is choppy, bumpy, and bouncy. There's even a hint of chassis flex as the body feels like it's twisting and contorting over rough roads. That's not a good sign

Well...

The FJ does have more usable space than the KJ...flat, squared off space and washable...but it's bigger too.

It comes stock with 32" tires , E-Lockers , tow points and rock rails/skids that "appear to be able to hold the weight of the the FJ". The wheel arches look like they could hold 35's....?

The crawl ratio is lower than a KJ's or a Wrangler at 32:1 for the auto and with the Manual trans. model having a 42:1 ratio.

Donahoe racing is already making a 3.5" coilover lift for it (they make the same thing for the Tacoma
http://www.donahoeracing.com/prod_detail.php?productID=21

Over 60 companies have taken an interest in developing an aftermarket for it.

Looks like a nice little 4x4 to me 8)

that FJ cruiser is definitely..........different. I think I'll go to the dealership when it debut's, and give 'er a look over and test drive before i jump to any conclusion.

You can't honestly say that you are interested in the FJ! Sorry, but I've seen the effects of a sluggish American auto industry first-hand. I don't give foreign cars a glancing thought...I'm more interested in the new TK 4 door.

The effects of the sluggish American auto industry is the fault of the american auto industry....(management of course :P ) It's hardly a "forgien car" ...it's built right here in the USA by American workers.

and yes...thats a cool little rig with LOTS of potential. It comes with larger tires than the Rubicon does...in addition to the same gearing and a rear e-locker (if they offered the front it would be great !). The only thing missing is a solid axle and the FJ would be a contender to the wrangler.

I can't wait to see it on a trail ! 8)

I just can't wait to see one live at all. In general Toyotas seem to run forever (and I just thing that it's cute too).

The FJ is mechanically a 4Runner, so the aftermarket should be full of goodies for it already! I like it too. AND I bet you'll have an easier time finding an FJ with a stick shift than you would a KJ...

You should read the article in this magazine on Manual vs Automatic.

From what I read, I'll take the Automatic thank you.

We were at a Toyota dealer last week looking at the new RAV4 for my wife and we asked about the FJ. They are all ready asking aleast $2000 over sticker. One person put a deposit on one 6 months ago. Apparentlly there are only going to be 50,000 brought to the states according to the dealer. They were saying it is going to be about $27,000 loaded. Add that to the dealer markup and you probally see low $30's.

Let see now, ground clearance 9.6", torque 278 ft.lbs. @3700rpm, 239 H.P.@5200rpm, rear axle travel 9.1" front axle travel 7.8", nicely tucked- up underbody comes with skids & rock bars and a stainless steel exhaust, electronic traction control and a rear elect. locker, crawl ratio 42 to 1 manual - 33.7 to 1 auto, rubberized materal thoughout the interior with water resistant seats, AC 115 volt receptical, numerous covered boxes and storage bins, more cargo room, 32" tires standard, after market parts already available and a 3.5" lift kit in the works, with over 60 companies ready to make custom parts.
Looks like an up and coming contender right out of the box!
Not to mention, around the same price range as the Libby.
