I've got a coolant leak that I can't find the source of. Seems to leak worse when sitting than when running. It's not the water pump or the upper rad hose. Appears to be coming from somewhere around drivers side of the front cover of the engine in the general vicinity of the P/S pump. At first I was thinking intake manifold but it doesn't look like it has any coolant passages on the front of the engine. Is this something you guys have seen before or just me? |

Water pump !!! I have seen, and had it happen to my own KJ ! Mine would only leak everyonce in a while between cooling down and waring up then seal itself up !! Look for a white trail from the weep hole or inside of the pulley, it will spin the coolant some times !! |

99% sure it's not the radiator or the water pump. Water pump weep hole and body are completely dry. It's coming from the block, head or front cover somewhere behind the power steering pump. Probably just need to pull all the accessories off and see if I can find it. |

Then it is the timing cover which has gaskets for the waterpump passages. Item #1............. http://www.moparpartsamerica.com/partlocator/index.cfm? |

If I was to guess I think it would be 4 wheel low and twisting the jeep up trails and over big rocks. ![]() |

Turned out to be leaking around the water pump. The timing cover where the pump o-ring sits had corroded away allowing the leakage. Filled the pits with JB weld and filed smooth. Leak fixed |

i'm wondering if this is my issue. just tiny specles of coolant and a couple small puddles on the bottom bar at the front of the engine between the engine and radiator. replaced the 2 pipes and thermostat and there is still some smaller leak at the thermostat somewhere... also leaking below the steering fluid somewhere. i cannot place it. could be the radiator i guess... |
