Is anybody else having issues with their '05-'07 fog light lenses cracking? I noticed it starting over a year ago and now each one has several cracks in them (some are deeper than others). I'm not sure if it's from road debris, heat from the bulbs, or just a quality/longevity issue with lense aging. I suspect if road debris was the culprit, I would have other chips and dings in the grille, and paint on the front of the car. I am really not looking forward to replacing those assemblies and then realigning the beams. I remember simply replacing the fog bulbs was a pain due to access issues. Does anybody else have similar experiences with fog light cracking/lense deterioration? Thanks in advance! |

I have heard of high wattage bulbs causing the lenses to crack, but pretty much only when the glass was cooled super quickly, like driving though a water crossing or something. |

When these came out in '05, this was an EXTREMELY common issue. Many of us had the lights replaced at the dealership and the problem was solved. Apparently Jeep got a bad batch of cheap lights and the heat of the bulb would crack the lens in cold weather. My current KJ has cracked lenses, but I'll wait until after Winter to replace them since it's out of warranty. My first '05 got the lenses replaced for free under warranty. |

My 2005 has a cracked driver's side lense, but I thought it was a road debris related issue. Either way, it didn't crack all the way through, so I haven't replaced it yet. Didn't know this may be an issue. SBosco wrote: I am really not looking forward to replacing those assemblies and then realigning the beams. You remove the grille by unscrewing two screws and lifting four-five tabs. Unscrew the alignment screw from the housing, undo the plug and then "twist" the housing out of it's holder. Once you replace the housing or the bulb, put the housing base back into the holder, replace the alighnment screw, realign. Put the grille back into place, snap the tabs and put the two screws back in. Done. |

On my '06 the lens didn't crack they seemed to peel & have gouges in them. I replaced them with a set of Pilot PL-1093W ($55.) they fit perfect, work well, & look cool! Happy Holidays Rich, N2ZKX......aka Rallycom 2006 Black KJ |

I had to replace my fog lamps twice under warranty on my '05 renegade. They are cheap crap. The first time I noticed they cracked were when I took the Jeep to a car wash during a cold winter night. The fog lights were kept on and when the vehicle came out of the wash the lenses were both cracked due to the warm water & cold air temp. The 2nd time I assume were from road debris. I got fed up and replaced both with a set of aftermarket Hellas and now have zero issues. |
