Post subject:  Clunky transmission

:?: I just got my 03 Liberty back from the dealership after a check engine light was on due to a bad emissions hose. Since then, I've noticed the transmission shifting hard when it comes out of overdrive (downshifting). I remember the transmission being "clunky" when I bought it, but its been a few years. Does the "smart" transmission need to relearn my driving style since the check engine light was reset? Any ideas? :?

 PS: If I switch the O/D off, its doesn't happen, and I periodically have a problem with the Liberty not going into gear 1st thing in the AM.

Thanks in advance!

Okay first off when you reset an engine light you just erase the codes that turned on the light. Just to let you know it shouldn't have any side effects, but I would have the dealership look at it and see if there are any flashes for your KJ. I know for a fact there is quite a few regarding the transmissions in the KJ's. If your under warranty still then it won't cost you a dime and if you're not under warranty then it would probally run you about 80 to 100 bucks.

I recall a TSB somewhere for 03's on harsh 4th to 3rd downshifts....might wanna run it by your dealer (get the tsb number from alldata or somebody first)
