I love my 2006 Jeep Liberty, but the steering wheel is driving me crazy because the lever that is supposed to keep the steering wheel locked in one position keeps on dropping, with the result that my steering wheel is continually moving up and down.

Has anyone ever experienced anything similar?

Is there a quick fix short of applying duct tape around the steering column. I hate the idea of junking up this truck with duct tape, but anything would be better than a floating steering wheel.

Many thanks in advance for any good ideas that you may be willing to share.

Best regards!

Mine is doing the same thing but I had it replaced when my ignition broke

When I get some spare time I am going to take it back to the shop & see what is going on, but I have not been doing a lot of offroading since this repair & do not find it a real pain YET!!!

That sucks! Try removing the plastic around the column and using some rope to tie it in place. Just be sure you don’t impact anything else in the process.
