I need one because I have a lot of crap and it all won't go in/on the jeep.
What have you all tried that works? (clears spare for putting tall things on it)

This work good enough? http://www.amazon.com/Hitch-Mounted-Carrier-capacity-CC-4820/dp/B002M4GEWK/ref=sr_1_9?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1292889693&sr=1-9

or will the wally world one work good enough?

Thanks to all!

Most all of them are about the same, made the same, look the same, haul the same
I got a cheap Walmart one back a few years ago and its done what it's suppose to

X2

I bought the cheap one from walmart. Assembles in a few minutes with one wrench. Cleared the tire pretty well, but I bought a length of 2" stock and extended mine out another 4" or so to clear the spare completely and mounted a full size aluminum truck box on it so stuff stays dry and relatively secure. I use it for long hauls.

I added some tail lights on to mine as well. Just in case I pile stuff up past the regular tail lights I'm good to go. Oh, and I too use the Wally World one.

I built my own. :pepper:  I was worried that a bought one wound not stick out past the spare tire and be too wide. Plus I had the material and time.

I built mine too...even got a trailer hitch on the back to pull a trailer with.
The one you posted on your link, pretty good price, shipping may kill ya though. Harbour Freight has some decent ones also.

I'd be curious about how much torsion you get by adding weight on the basket, and then the toungue weight on the hitch. If it works, it works... I'm just wondering is all. If you loaded the basket up to like 75-100 lbs and you had a trailer with any tongue weight, I think you might be pushing past the limits of a factory hitch once you factor in the extra length of the hitch. But like I said If it works, it works...

I only use it too haul a 40# yard wagon and my trailer only weighs 500# and is not balanced right so it has almost no tongue weight, maybe 30-40#'s. I only haul in it 2-3 goats when the carrier is in so it's all good. No way I would ever pull a trailer with it more than 1500#'s or so. It was designed to pull a small popup camper that weighed 1150# dry, 1500 loaded and carrier was used for kids bicycles. The vehicles I use it on have 5000# hitches with 10K using a WDH so I would never max them out.
