Finally got a Check Engine Light on.

What OBD II readers are you guys using?

Cheapest but does the job "Reader?"

Also noticed torn rubber around the power steering mount (the one where the end of the oil filter is pointing at - I think that is a good reference point). The rubber is torn and sticking out of the mount.

My setup was about $30 and uses a bluetooth adapter that works with a Android app

Works with my 2 Jeeps, Cadillac, and Ford diesel.

Also, if you are just looking to read the codes you can take it in to most autoparts stores and they will pull them free of charge.

That's what I did. Got a P0300 code, which came up with:

Cylinder Misfire detected - random cylinders
Possible causes:

1. spark plugs/ignition coil (yes, I know - just copying paper)
2. high or low fuel pressure
3. Vacuum leak
4. Injector fault

Monday, I did have a sudden misfire sitting at a light. Engine had that sudden drop like a spark plug didn't fire and RPM's dropped and went back to normal.

The engine light came on yesterday though.

Check engine light is no longer on. Hmmmm.......

As for the torn rubber. See arrows in picture. It looks like it is coming from directly below the washer and not in the middle. I couldn't notice any rubber on the other mount. Is there supposed to be a rubber grommet/washer/disc located there?

So heres a related question.
I had 2 lights go on, my ABS light (I dont have ABS brakes) and the no key light (the no smoking logo with a key instead of a cig.).

I used my OBD2 sensor with the torque program on my phone and its not coming up with any errors.

Thoguhts? Am I using the torque program correctly?
