Some engines like the designed factory exhaust manifold and exhaust system for back-pressure. Those engines often lose torque when the exhaust is more free flowing but allow for more H.P. gains with other mod's.
Does the 3.7 like backpressure? It's a hard topic to research. I can't find any threads.

Would it be safe to say from your experience that cat back's or removing cats or whatever would not be a first performance mod? I've read quite a bit in the performance/4x2 section. It is senseless to me to spend to spend thousands and experiment for 20H.P. Is their any combinations of intake, program, and exhaust that make sense? I know I'm buying the transGo if it's still available.

Well for example one of the guys here in Ohio had bad cat(s) and an exhaust leak for quite a while, after he replaced the cats/ repaired the leak power was up as well as mileage
The cats were basically empty so almost like no cats at all
just one example

I've had a Transgo kit in my drawer for 4 years now, interested in it? Or I think its still there :ROTFL:

As pretty well proven on this site this transmission has problems. Mine shifts like crap for whatever the reason. 1st to 2nd great, I even like the way it seems to stay in first based on speed with engine braking, 2-3 OK a little early most often, 3-4 to much feather for me. 4-3 crap, 3-2 pretty much won't do it when I want it to, 2-1 same. Dealer here is unaware of flash and I will eventually have to try to find out the Chrysler number or name then translate.
When passing is necessary in all other auto's I've owned I would indicate, hit the go pedal and turn in the passing lane. In this Jeep I hit the go pedal wait to see what my jeep want's to do then decide if I can pass with the acceleration the transmission has decided to give me at that point in time. Yes I curse at it. :furious:
I also believe transgo has a newer kit. Spending the money to try it out is well worth it to me. You can not drive like a grandpa where I live and not get into accidents. 8)

Think its bad stock , then try it for a while with 32s and stock gearing
was almost ready to sell it until I got the 4.10s
Actually that would give you more on the go pedal than most anything else, swap to 4.10s and have fun!
Then swap out the stock muffler for a Magnaflow or similar, Amsoil air filter in the stock box. My best combination I have found for overall drivability

I have a K&N drop-in Air filter
and a Dynomax Ultra Flow Stainless Steel Muffler.
Both costed around 60-70 bucks
Love em, sound and all. feels pretty peppy and must be faster bcz its faster than my buddies stock 06 :goink:
But i recommend this any day. Cheap, Easy, and sounds great.

in terms of overall "performance" time, a set of rings and the associated install is cheaper than the engine mods that result in anywhere close to the same increases
