'06 liberty sporrt, 3.7

alright guys, its a cold canadian winter, and my liberty does not like it.
this is a problem that only arises in the winter, when theres snow, and it goes from extreme cold to moderate cold within a couple of days. happened once last year, and is getting worse this winter, almost everytime i drive.

when traction control is DISABLED:
-jeep takes corners from a stop fine, slips as expected.

when traction control is ENABLED:
-taking a corner from a dead stop starts fine, but in the middle of the turn the revs drop and the car wont accelerate
-it acts like traction control engages, and a grinding sound is heard and felt
-when i turn left, she goes right, and vice versa
-when i let off the gas the grinding stops, and car turns normally
-after this happens, traction conrol, abs/bas/ and esp dash lights all turn on

this used to only happen in 4x4, but now it happens in 2wd too.
i almost got t.boned tonight and really need to get this figured ouut!
thanks for yourr imput

the TC is more sensitive in 4x4, but works the same in 2WD

would you say it's safe to say your tires are degrading at about the same rate as the problem is getting worse?

It sounds like it thinks it's doing what it should be doing and preventing the wheel slipage by killing the throttle which is one of the two primary means it has to do this 1 being apply brake to slipping wheel via abs and 2 cut throttle via TC engine management

as for the lights coming on, from what I ultimately understand they come on to notify you that the system has performed actions beyond typical expectation

I mean.. I've watched rovers going through the parking lot at my gf's job on the glaze ice and they'll barely be moving, all 4 wheels slowly turning like the worlds in slow motion, and a frustrated and impatient driver behind the wheel with the gas to the floor

reason I assume that.. is they usually buck when they hit the un-iced section with rapid acceleration before slamming the brakes before running over the stopsign..

well.. usually, they actually ran the stop sign over Thursday lol

I'd imagine your roads are similar to my driveway.. a layer of solid, rough, grained ice, with powder snow on top, Or, wet slushy mess on top but the baselayer is almost always there and wheel spin just happens and ya deal with it.. till the engine cuts the throttle

none of my vehicles have TC or any of that stuff so as for direct experience on my KJ.. not sure but i'm sure someone will pipe up.. but honestly it sounds like it is working for the most part, normally

btw, this past september i sunk it in some sick sandy water.. drained the diffs and transmission not the transfer case tho.. oops.

i get what you saying, its just the grinding sound that makes me worry, and the fact that is was not like this last winter. i just put 4 brand new winter tires on in october. last winter i was running stock all seasons with 60,000km on them.

so if anything i would ecpect for the traction conrol to engage less?

by tc i meant traction control, but regardless..

tire sizes stayed the same?

yeah, i too would have expected it to have engaged less
