There are a couple posts about making tube doors. They are liked by about half and hated by about half. Personally I like them.. but it takes a lot for them to work.

Not to mention you will get the response that the KJ is a unibody vehicle and the doors are a very important part of keeping the vehicle safe in a rollover.

I like the tube doors more then half doors, but maybe the half would be better to keep strength in the body :juggle:

half doors will keep the body strength... you will basically reinforcethose doors... all you really need is a sawzall... and find a local welder to put some steel on it

Here are some things I bookmarked that may be useful. Here's something on making tube doors:

It's written by a non-expert so beware.

Here are a number of related links at cherokeeforum on half doors:

to maintain strength of the unibody, you would have to do the half doors like the WJ and not cut the top of the door off..

Hey, I'm going to build some KJ tube doors this summer possibly. But I'm having someone do this for me. I'm still thinking on how to have this done.

You should definitely post pics. I can't decide between tube or half doors, leaning towards tube tho... :juggle:

It's not that I'm stuck on which door, I cant figure out how I'm going to get them on the jeep. I don't want to do the hinge pin conversion cause that would be dangerous and in some ways a pain. There is another option, find factory door handles and weld them to the door. But still there I have problems. I think maybe if you found tj or yj door hinges, those could work to open and shut the tube doors. Still alot of planning to do and figuring out if insurance will cover this. :dizzy:

I think you should try your local auto wrecker or junk yard to find a KJ and take the hinges off that and see how they would work. I would imagine that be best so you don't have to change much and it be a easy swap when you want the stock doors back on... :JEEPIN:

Yeah, I'll wait on my Fall 2011 Finanical Aid to get here and have some proper doors made. :ROTFL:  When that money gets here, 4.10s are going in and I'm buying a new set of BFG KM2s  :pepper:
