Pardon me if this has been covered before, I did a search but found nothing. I keep getting the "lowash" indicator on the dash and chimes (annoying). I figured out that meant the truck thinks it's low on washer fluid, BUT it is completely full. Is there something in tha manual I missed on resetting this stupid thing, or has my washer fluid level sensor gone bad? If so, where is said sensor, and can I just unplug it without making the ECU angry? This chiming thing is driving me nuts!

The sensor is located inside the wash bottle, at the side. You get access to it...with difficulty...from within the wheel well if I remember correctly. It consists of two parts... a floating piece with a magnet attached that swings over to a second section that has a contact in it... I am not sure if this is a Hall Effect transistor or just a Reed contact. Do not confuse this sensor with the pump assembly that has the two water pipes attached. My floating bit has come off and floated to the top of the fluid tank where I retrieved it...I will re-fit it sometime but in the meantime I do not have any error message such as low washer fluid so I need to remember to keep the bottled reasonably filled. You can try disconnecting the plug but rather pull out the whole sensor assembly to see what is going on. |

I figured its worth mentioning, a few months ago, when it started with the freezing weather, I neglected/forgot to change from the green bugwash to the orange de-icer. The green fluid partially frozed, and turned the indicator on, or so I'm guessing. When I emptied the remaining non frozen fluid and replaced with the winter fluid the indicator hasn't been on since. |

I am using the deicer. I'll try and unplug it tomorrow and see if it still freaks out. Tom |
