Post subject:  grill guard / bull bar question....

I'm looking into getting a front grill guard/bull bar for my renny. I want to find one that extends to the edge of the front fenders, like the mopar one. But does any company make one where i won't have to relocate my OEM bumper mounted fogs?? If not, where are people putting them other than drilling into the new bar??

no company I know of makes a guard that won't require relocating the lights...To keep em-i'd drill into the new bar. Or you could fab something up using pipe or hose clamp.

You could take a piece of flat stock about an inch and a half or two inches wide, drill a hole on one end the size of the fog light mounting bolt and on the other end the size of the tow hook bolt bole and mount light there. Since the bolts for the grill guard are at the same place, you won't need any new hardware except the steel stock.

Good luck.

Check out my car domain page at the bottom. My westin brush guard comes with holes for aux lights or maybe you could just put the stock fogs there. Check it out and tell me what you think

i was just thinking about it an the manik is a full a brush guard and it comes with fog light mounting holes if i remember right.

There is a company that makes a brush guard that comes with tow hooks, to my knowledge it is the only one that allows you to use hooks with the guard. IIRC also had light mounts. I can't remember the link though.

i'm not squimish about drilling into the bar at all... just hit it with some coating once it's drilled and use some silicone thread sealer on the bolts. Thanks for all the info guys... I don't think i'd be willing to give up my tow hook though... i think it's a little too important lol

I have been researching the same question Snow Blower, for when my renny arrives next month.
You might want to take a look at the 76MM GRILL GUARD at T&H. It looks like they replace the tow hooks. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it is narrow enough to keep the original fog light mounts. But if it does partially block them, at least it offers another mount point. Here is a link.

Good luck and whatever you decide on, please let me know so I can see a solution.

ps. I sent an email to T&H, but am waiting for a response.

I have Waag PreRunner on my KJ and there is an optional light mount bracket that is available. I am not sure if there was a change in bumper design in your year but I am awaiting some from Waag.

Update: Waag never sent these so I figure I was scammed by them. Cannot recommend these to anyone... but if anybody wants one cheap, I will gladly sell mine to get a better product ie ARB

I bought the T&H Grill guard from www.autoanything.com because I Love the style of the Bull Bar... But, be warned (I confirmed this with T&H on the phone) that their site and ALL ads for the Liberty are misprinted and DO require the removal of the Tow Hooks.

I haven't mounted mine yet and am going to try to engineer a way around this . . . but right now don't have a solid solution ironed out! Anything is doable . . .
